Spiritual Warfare Part II…..Origin of Demons

Spiritual Warfare
Part II…..Origin of Demons

Ephesians 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power
20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

Ephesians 6: 12 - For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

We have already learned the dwelling place of the demonic kingdom is where the 'high' or 'heavenly' places are.

Ø     They are the invisible spiritual realms that are all around us.
Ø     It is the invisible spiritual realm where God is, where the Spirit is, where Jesus is.
Ø     It is the realm where the Holy angles have their existence.

The demonic kingdom is also located in the Heavenly Places. The bible does not make any distinction here. They are the same heavenly places.

Ø     It is the realm where Lucifer and his demons, his unclean evil spirits also have there existence.

The heavenly places we read about in Ephesians 1:20 where Christ is, are the same heavenly places that we read about in Ephesians 6: 12.

Ephesians 2: 1 and you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
2  in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
3  among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

The Bible speaks of the 'prince of the powers of the air’.

Ø     There are powers in the very air around us where the demonic spirits have their dwelling place.
Ø     From the evidence given in scripture we have an idea of the great number of demon spirits that are in this kingdom.

We need to understand our enemy. We need to ask ourselves what are these demonic spirits.

The Bible reveals this to us very clearly that demonic spirits were once holy angels. In the Book of Revelation in the 12th chapter, we are told that Lucifer (or Satan), who is the prince of devils, was once an archangel that rebelled against God and persuaded one-third of the angels of Heaven to rebel with him.

In order to fully understand these scriptures, we need to first understand what the scriptures mean by Lucifer's rebellion against God.

When we think of the definition or word ‘rebellion’ or ‘revolution’ here on earth we think of one physical being gathering together an army of men (other physical beings) and marching against a physical king or physical government. If we are not careful when we think of Lucifer's rebellion against God, we will get the same mental image.

In the first place, we have already learned in our previous Study of the heavenly places that God is not a physical being.

Ø     God does not exist in a physical form.
Ø     He is too big for that.
Ø     He is an omnipresent spirit that fills the whole universe.
Ø     So you cannot have Lucifer marching against Him to overthrow Him in any one place with an army of physical beings.

This is not what is meant by Lucifer's rebellion against God.

Ø     He is omnipotent (all powerful).
Ø     No one can personally hurt Him or do anything against His person.
Ø     No one can do anything against God personally.

The only way that any one can be in rebellion against God is by rebelling against His plan and purpose for their existence or for their life.

Satan rebelled in the beginning before the world was. He rebelled against God's purpose and plan for his existence.

God had created him to be an archangel in His heavenly realm and to have a certain amount of authority and power over the rest of God's Heavenly realms.

Ø     But Lucifer desired to have even greater authority and ruler ship over God's creation.
Ø     He began seeking to fulfil these desires by taking authority and ruler ship over the rest of God's creation desiring to have all authority.
Ø     That place is reserved for Jesus alone.
Ø     When he sought to fulfil this desire he was rebelling against God's plan and purpose for his existence.

It is in this sense that he rebelled against God.

Lucifer began to have dreams and desires above and beyond God's plan for him and in seeking to fulfil these dreams and desires he was in rebellion against God.

Then the Bible says Lucifer persuaded one-third of the Holy Angels in Heaven to rebel with him against God.

Ø  Lucifer persuaded them to begin to try taking ruler ship and authority over the rest of the angelic creation;
Ø  The angels also began to have dreams and desires above and beyond God's plan for their existence and so were in rebellion against God.

Jude 6 And the angels (including Lucifer) who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

They left their first state, God's first plan for their existence, and they thought to have a higher state, a higher calling.

Because they rebelled against God and His plan for their existence, the Bible says, "God hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness."

Ø     This does not mean that God took some literal chains and tied up these angels.
Ø     These angels are spirit beings not physical beings so they could not be bound with any type of physical chains.
Ø     The true picture is that when a being has desires different from God’s plan and purpose for them, and they begin to seek fulfilment of those desires, they walk away from the leadership of His Spirit and into darkness.
Ø     They walk out into darkness, and lose the light of God.

They become bound in this chain of darkness.

When they lost the light of God, the holy angels began to sink deeper and deeper into corruption until they have become demonic beings, demon spirits, and evil spirits.

Ø     This was the beginning of demon spirits.
Ø     This is why they are demon spirits.
Ø     They were once holy angels who have degenerated away from the leadership,
Ø     They have turned away from the light and the union with the Holy Spirit of God and moved into darkness.
Ø     They have degenerated unto the most evil and corrupt spirits.

They became so as a result of their rebellion against God's plan for their existence walking away from the leadership of the Spirit of God and into darkness.

All of us who have walked with God for some time have known Christians who once walked close with God.

Ø     They were at meetings every week or at church every Sunday.
Ø     The Spirit of God was leading them unto God's plan for their lives.

Than all of a sudden, they do not show at a meeting one week.

Ø     Maybe business suddenly became good
Ø     Maybe they began to make some money.

Let’s say this person bought a boat. Instead of coming to church that Sunday, they felt they must go to the lake and try out this new boat. At that point where they do so, they begin walking away from the leadership of the Spirit of God.

Ø     They have has placed that boat between themselves and the light of the Spirit of God.
Ø     They have cut their communion with God.
Ø     The Holy Spirit wanted to lead them down to the House of God on Sunday morning so that they might feed on God's Word
Ø     The Holy Spirit desired them to become spiritually strong and be led on to God's plan for there life.
Ø     But, that boat came between themselves and the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday found them out on the lake. At the point where they did so, they had walked out into darkness away from the leadership and light of the Spirit of God.

Now with some people, as the Spirit speaks to them and reveals what they have done, they will be wise enough and strong enough to be back in church next Sunday morning and try out the boat from then on during the week, but to others it’s not so.

This person might come back the next Sunday morning, but the following Sunday they listened again to the lie of the devil, "Well, I have to work hard during the week and this is the only time I have."

Instead of letting the Spirit lead them to the most important thing in their life, which is being fed from God's holy Word in the House of God, he plants that boat between them and the Holy Spirit again, and they are back out on the lake next Sunday.

Ø     They are back in darkness again.
Ø     The next Sunday they have become weaker, and they are out on the lake again and again and again and again.
Ø     Pretty soon they stop coming to church altogether.
Ø     When you see that person six months later in his home, the devil has slyly led them, under his control and guidance, causing friction between that person and their family.
Ø     You will hear that person burst forth with a stream of curse words, which they had long ago laid aside when they came to Christ.
Ø     You find them a year or two later at the corner bar room drinking a beer again from which they long since turned from when they turned to Christ.

They are walking down into darkness, and they are sinking into corruption, and they are going down, down, down into degeneration and wickedness in their mind and in their spirit.

This is exactly what happened to Lucifer and the once holy angels if we could think in terms of hundreds and thousands of years that they have had to sink into darkness and wickedness.

Ø     They chose rebellion against God's plan for their existence.
Ø     They sought to take greater authority over the rest of God's creation
Ø     They left their first state and chose to walk out into darkness away from the light and the leadership of God.

They have sunk into the very depths of corruption and degeneration and have become the most evil beings of all God's universe so that the Bible calls or describes them as evil, unclean spirits.

Spiritual Warfare Part I…..In Heavenly Places

Spiritual Warfare Part I…..In Heavenly Places Ephesians 1: 19    and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. So the heavenly places are where Christ has been made to sit at the right hand of God. Therefore the heavenly places are where God is. To understand where the heavenly places are we need to change our thinking from what we had after we first became Christians. Our Foundation

Our Foundation I Corinthians 3: 11 - For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12   Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13   each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 14   If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15   If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 16 ¶ Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17   If anyone defiles the temple of God , God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. When man tried to build the tower of Babel they were not able to do it because God confused them, but God is building what man was not able to build. Ø    ...

The Problem With "Church"

The Problem With "Church" Ezekiel 47: 3   And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. 4   Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins. 5   Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over. 6   And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river. 7   Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. 12   And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neit...
