Basic Patterns
Part I….In the Beginning
Exodus 25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
9 according to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.
When people are making a dress, they take the material and place it up against the pattern and then if it doesn't fit the pattern they begin cutting some away.
Ø We need to understand that the Holy Spirit wants to reveal to us, through the scriptures, several patterns that will make known to us the whole plan of God from the beginning to the end.
Ø These patterns speak in different symbols and numbers and yet they all relate to one another.
Ø Whenever we have a revelation presented to us, whether it is by some spirit speaking to your mind, or some spirit in some preacher speaking to your ear, we can place that revelation up against the pattern in scripture, just like our dressmakers, and if it doesn't fit God's scriptural pattern we can cut it away and get rid of it.
Ø When the Spirit of God reveals to us all these scriptural patterns, then we can know ...that we know... that we know... that we have the heard the true revelation of God.
Ø We can then walk into the highest calling of God's purpose for us, in the Spirit, in these last days without fear of being met by some big, beautiful, false revelation that will lead us off on some side-tangent of doctrine and revelation that will only take us out of the pure purpose of God’s will for our lives.
The first pattern in scripture that reveals to us the plan of God from beginning to end is the pattern of creation found in the beginning of the book of Genesis.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
The word “void” in verse two actually means “waste”. Without the light of God within us we are in darkness and without any type of true form. We become a waste apart from what we were created to be.
Genesis 1: 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
The first day God separated light from the darkness.
Ø The first phase of our walk in Christ towards a perfect, mature and complete life in Him begins with the realization that Jesus went to the cross for us.
Ø When this happens God begins the process of separation of right and wrong in us.
Ø He begins the process of separation of life and death in us.
Ø He begins the separation process of separation of light and darkness.
John 1: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
John is saying here in verse four that the light of men is Jesus. He is also informing us that this light is also our life.
Ø Without Jesus there is not life in men, only darkness and death.
Ø Jesus became the life in all men by planting His very nature of Christ within us as a seed.
Ø With careful watering by the Holy Spirit this seed will grow to a full spiritual tree and begin bearing fruit.
Genesis 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
The second day of God’s great pattern for creation was the creation of a firmament in the midst to divide the waters from above from the waters that are below. The second phase of our walk to becoming a new creation in Him is when God begins to reveal to us the things from above that are of the heavenly spirit truths and the things that are from below, the fleshly, earthy things.
Ø The way God does this is by placing the Holy Spirit in the midst of these two natures, our fleshly self nature and our new birth, heavenly, spiritual nature.
Ø This happens through our baptism in the Holy Spirit. It is the marriage union of our spirit with His spirit.
Ø It is dying to our own knowledge of good and evil allowing the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to discern for us the real truths and the real life.
Ø Not some big, beautiful false doctrine, but the real spirit truths that will lead us on to bearing fruit in our spirit.
2 Peter 1: 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Genesis 1: 9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.
The third great truth found in God’s great creation pattern is the third day creation of life.
God created, on the third day, grass with seed within itself. He created trees with seed within itself. He created herbs and fruit with seed within itself.
Ø This speaks to us of the bringing forth of life in us.
Ø This life contains the very seed that will begin our growth to the very nature of Christ.
Ø It speaks to us of God’s eternal laws that will begin the process of cleaning up our walks, not only towards the perfect nature of Christ in us, but toward the perfect dealings with each other.
Notice that the life brought forth on the third day creation was not a breathing life.
Ø The law that was given to Moses on the mount was to govern our walk with each other.
Ø It was God’s order for his nation.
Ø It revealed to Israel what sin was and the penalties of breaking the law set forth, but there was no breath of true life in it.
Ø It would reveal to us what sin is, but could not how to truly walk free of that sin and onto perfection in Christ.
When we were in the old mother church, she taught us of God’s great principals and laws.
Ø She revealed to us the seeds of the truths of David, Noah, and Jesus.
Ø This life she brought forth contained the seed to a greater life that was to come forth in our continued walk in God’s great pattern and order.
Genesis 1: 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
The forth day God placed the sun, the moon and the stars in the firmament of the heaven. The greater light, the sun was to rule the day. The lesser light, the moon, was to rule the night.
John 1: 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
When Jesus was here the light was here with us on earth.
Ø Jesus was the sun that ruled the day.
Ø When he returned back to the father He didn’t leave us in darkness. He left with us the Holy Spirit who has been continuing to bring light to His church for 2000 years.
The church, like the moon, is to give to this world light in the darkness.
Ø The moon has no light of its own, but only reflects the light of the sun.
Ø So too, the church has not light of her own, but is only to reflect that of Jesus the perfect son, through the Holy Spirit, onto this earth.
God also placed the stars in the firmament of heaven to reflect different amounts of light back to this darkened earth.
Ø God has patterned in them the reflecting of his five-fold lights, apostle, prophet, pastor, evangelist and teacher
Ø They are to light the direction of the body of Christ on this earth to give us direction in our journey towards the perfect nature of Christ in us.
Ø They are a guide to light our way in our journey onward into the Holy of Holies
Jeremiah 31: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
If we continue walk towards maturity in Christ there will come a hunger in us to want to understand more of the truths of who God is.
Ø There will come a time when we will want to branch away from our mother church that has lovingly fed and nourished us up until now.
Ø There will come a time when we will want to be about our fathers business and learn all there is to learn about our heavenly father.
There will come a time when we want the Holy Spirit to place the laws of God, not in stone, but in us.
