The Anointing

The Anointing

Exodus 40: 9  "And you shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it; and you shall hallow it and all its utensils, and it shall be holy.

The Strong’s concordance translates anointing as “a set apart portion, anointing oil, ointment, anointing portion.”

The dictionary defines anoint as “To put oil on as a sign of dedication or consecration. To choose by or as if by divine intervention.”

Judges 15: 14  When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting against him. Then the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him; and the ropes that were on his arms became like flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds broke loose from his hands.
15   He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, reached out his hand and took it, and killed a thousand men with it.
16   Then Samson said: "With the jawbone of a donkey, Heaps upon heaps, With the jawbone of a donkey I have slain a thousand men!"

When Samson was just Samson he could not tear lions apart or slay the Philistines with a jawbone of a donkey. It was only when the anointing of the Holy Spirit was upon him that Samson could do what seemed impossible.

Judges 16: 18  When Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, "Come up once more, for he has told me all his heart." So the lords of the Philistines came up to her and brought the money in their hand.
19   Then she lulled him to sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his head. Then she began to torment him, and his strength left him.
20   And she said, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" So he awoke from his sleep, and said, "I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!" But he did not know that the LORD had departed from him.
21   Then the Philistines took him and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza. They bound him with bronze fetters, and he became a grinder in the prison.
22   However, the hair of his head began to grow again after it had been shaven.

While walking in the flesh nature, with Delilah, Samson lost his hair, which represented his covering and his anointing.

Ø     Samson woke up with the same muscles he had before.
Ø     He still had the same position in Israel that he had before.
Ø     Samson had all the same revelations of God that he had before. In fact, verse 20 says that he didn’t even realize that anything had changed for him.

But there was one important ingredient in his life was missing. He had lost the anointing. His power over his enemies was gone.

Ø     We may have all of the revelations contained in the Bible.
Ø     We may even be able to lay hands on the sick and cast out demons,
Ø     But without God’s anointing oil of the Holy Spirit working itself in us and through us, it becomes like filthy rags and dead works.

Exodus 40: 9  "And you shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it; and you shall hallow it and all its utensils, and it shall be holy.
10   "You shall anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all its utensils, and consecrate the altar. The altar shall be most holy.
11   "And you shall anoint the laver and its base, and consecrate it.
12   "Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of meeting and wash them with water.
13   "You shall put the holy garments on Aaron, and anoint him and consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest.
14   "And you shall bring his sons and clothe them with tunics.
15   "You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations."
16   Thus Moses did; according to all that the LORD had commanded him, so he did.

After Moses’ tabernacle in the wilderness was put together and every piece of furniture was put in it place, then the anointing oil was poured on the tabernacle and everything within it.

Ø     The Alter and all the seven pieces of furniture were anointed
Ø     Aaron, his sons and their garments were anointed.
Ø     Everything had to be anointed with oil.

God said of Aaron and his sons “for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations."

Ø     Notice the wording here. They themselves were not called the everlasting priesthood, but their anointing was.
Ø     It is not us, but the anointing of the Holy Spirit working Christ’s nature in us that will become an everlasting priesthood before God.
Ø     We need to really grasp this truth. “Without Him we can do nothing.”
Ø     It has nothing to do with what we know or what we do with what we think we know.
Ø     This nature will bring us to the very throne room of God if we allow the anointing of the Holy Spirit to work His work in and through us.
Ø     This anointing will give us the strength to willingly leave behind our old falling nature, and begin to work in us a new creation Christ nature.

Matthew 7:22  "Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
23  "And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Do you know we can even walk in the gift of prophecy, tongues with interpretations and not be under the anointing of the Holy Spirit?

How does this happen? How can we miss the anointing in our meetings?

It happens before we even start the meeting.

Ø     Have we spent time in pray before God before we come together?
Ø     Are we so busy talking with one another before the meeting about fleshly things that when we come together we haven’t prayed down this anointing?

1 John 2: 27  But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
28  And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

In this age we are in, all of the tabernacle pieces within us must also be anointed with the oil of the Holy Spirit.

Ø     We can meet together and sing old familiar songs
Ø     We can even lift our hands in praise to the Lord.
Ø     We can build this great many member tabernacle
Ø     We can fit it with all the right boards
Ø     We can set the ministries in place to give it an order.
Ø     We can teach all the great truths found in the furniture, such as, the Lamp stands, the Table of Showbread, and the Golden Alter of Incense.
Ø     We can feast upon all of the hidden manna that becomes available to us

But without this anointing of the Holy Spirit the life of Christ will not be in anything we set out to do. God will not even recognize it.

Ø     This anointing causes us to really take hold of the word of God we hear
Ø     This anointing causes it to grow in our spirits
Ø     This anointing works it to become truth in us.
Ø     This anointing will destroy this old, corruptible, fallen nature in us and replace it with a new incorruptible Christ nature, pure and holy.

But unless we are continually seeking the Holy Spirit and unless we are in a consistent spirit of prayer, we will soon become the same old order church that we have already been through.

Without the anointing of the Holy Spirit we can do nothing.

Spiritual Warfare Part I…..In Heavenly Places

Spiritual Warfare Part I…..In Heavenly Places Ephesians 1: 19    and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. So the heavenly places are where Christ has been made to sit at the right hand of God. Therefore the heavenly places are where God is. To understand where the heavenly places are we need to change our thinking from what we had after we first became Christians. T his verse is not saying that Christ is sitting on a physical throne beside a physical...

Basic Patterns Part I….In the Beginning

Basic Patterns Part I….In the Beginning Exodus 25: 8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. 9 according to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it. When people are making a dress, they take the material and place it up against the pattern and then if it doesn't fit the pattern they begin cutting some away. Ø      We need to understand that the Holy Spirit wants to reveal to us, through the scriptures, several patterns that will make known to us the whole plan of God from the beginning to the end . Ø      These patterns speak in different symbols and numbers and yet they all relate to one another. Ø      Whenever we have a revelation presented to us, whether it is by some spirit speaking to your mind, or some spirit in some preacher speaking to your ear, we can place that revelation up against the pattern in ...

FROM SERVANT TO SON Part II.....Discipleship

From Servant to Son Part II…Discipleship Colossians 2:6 - As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him In order to fully walk in Him we need to walk through four stages of Christian growth. 1.    Servantship – When we walk beneath God 2.    Discipleship – When we walk behind God 3.    Friendship – When we walk beside God 4.     Sonship – When we walk in God The first stage of our walk is the baby stage of our Christian walk. It is our Servantship stage. Those who move in this level of a servantship revelation have a saying which is, "You are saved to serve” . Ø      This sounds very good to the babe in Christ, who does not know any better, but in fact it is far from the truth. Ø      We are not saved to serve. Ø      Our Heavenly Father did not call us out of the world and save us to be His servants throughout Eternity. Ø      He c...
